Boost Home Security With Video Surveillance

November 30th, 2011 | No Comments | Posted in Fire and Security

One of the best ways, by far, to boost your home security system and ensure that you have the best possible protection in place is video surveillance. If you are looking for a Vivint rip off then you won’t find it here as it has been proven that CCTV (especially in private residences and property) does a fantastic job in deterring crime.

You can have all the locks and chains you want securing and keeping doors, windows and other routes of entry closed to potential intrusions however this can all be in vain if you come across a particularly crafty of experienced burglar. In fact, many criminals are not put off by a semi-elaborate security system as they can often have a fair amount of time to try and penetrate it. This is why having CCTV in and around your home can be so beneficial. What it does is make certain that any burglars or would be thieves do not have any time at all to find a way of gaining entry to your home or your property as all their actions will be captured on the video feed.

Systems like that from Vivint have been proven to be a big deterrent of crime also. The sight of video surveillance is usually enough to put your average criminal off as they risk of being caught is far greater and they generally tend to avoid properties that have this kind of system installed. That isn’t to say that you will be protected completely and you will still need a good system of locks and other security measures. However these all come together in security packages and just a few of these security features combined can go a long way to protecting your home, your family and your possessions against the threat of crime.

Getting the House Ready for Winter

November 27th, 2011 | No Comments | Posted in Construction and Maintenance

With winter on the horizon, it is time for me to think about getting my house ready for winter.  I have already moved in all the flower pots from outside, emptied the gas out of the lawn mower, and have the rest of the yard ready for winter.  But when it comes to getting the inside of the house ready, I have a few things on my list.

First off, I have one window that needs replacing.  Last year, it leaked something fierce, and I don’t know if putting plastic on the window will work.  I have been calling around town to find a company that would come replace the window for me, but I haven’t had much luck.  Hopefully I will be able to find someone before it gets really cold out there – I don’t want to have to put plastic on there again this year.

My other big task before it gets really cold outside is to get my furnace inspected to make sure that there are no problems.  It is an older furnace, and I am hoping that it will last me a few more years before I have to replace it.  I have called in a company that specializes in heating system repair Riverside, and I am hoping that they will have good news for me.  If not, at least they will be able to know what needs to be done – I would rather be more proactive about heating my home than having to fix it in a crunch.

I hope this year is not as cold as last year since my Arthritis seems to flare up more in winter.  Maybe someday I will be able to go where it is warmer in the winter months instead of dealing with this cold.  Summer won’t be here soon enough.
